Pray for Maine:
Maine’s Appeal to Heaven

When truth is pushed to the margins, families lose their voice, and even our oldest institutions celebrate confusion, we’re reminded: our hope is not in politics or policy

Our only hope is this: that God still governs in the affairs of men.

Born from Faith. Rooted in History.

In 1775, General George Washington commissioned a white flag with a lone pine tree and the words “An Appeal to Heaven.” It flew over Revolutionary naval vessels off the coast of Maine - an acknowledgment that the fight for freedom could only be won by the power of God’s hand.

Pray for Maine is our generation’s Appeal to Heaven - a recognition that we are in a spiritual battle for the heart and soul of our people, a fight that cannot be won by human strength alone.

The flag reminds us of our heritage and inspires hope for our future.

Whereas, Maine stands at a moment of deep crisis;

Whereas, our schools have become places of confusion and hostility toward faith, promoting radical gender and sexuality ideologies that distort truth and harm children;

Whereas, families are breaking apart under the weight of addiction, fatherlessness, economic instability, and policies that discourage both work and responsibility;

Whereas, abortion is permitted up until the moment of birth, and abortions in Maine have risen by nearly 20 percent, further devaluing life and eroding the moral foundation of our state;

Whereas, parents are being sidelined from decision-making in critical matters concerning their children’s health, education, and spiritual instruction;

Whereas, leaders in Augusta have grown detached from the people they serve, passing budgets and policies that prioritize politics over the well-being of Maine’s communities;

Whereas, government at various levels continues to display bias against the Church—whether in public contracts, in religious instruction, or in access to public facilities;

Whereas, Maine’s challenges are not ultimately political but spiritual, and no human policy can heal what is broken in the hearts of individuals, in the strength of families, or in the fabric of our communities;

Whereas, Scripture and history alike testify that when God’s people pray, He moves in ways no human plan can - when Abraham interceded for Sodom, when Moses stood in the gap for Israel, when George Washington raised the Appeal to Heaven flag, and when past revivals swept across New England;

Therefore, be it resolved that the people of God in Maine must unite under one banner, one message, and one appeal to Heaven to Pray for Maine.

Resolved: To Pray for Maine

Pray. Give. Fly the Flag.

Join us in prayer, action, and hope for our beloved state.
Together, we stand beneath the pine and the star, appealing not to men, but to Heaven.
